A New Look for PDI

by | Feb 7

2021 was a year of big changes for PDI.

We added two new acquisitions to our product suite: CallTime.AI, a leading political fundraising tool; and OutreachCircle, a supporter management, P2P texting, and relational organizing platform. We announced key new leadership team members to strengthen our in-house expertise. With new investments in engineering and customer service, we’re focused on giving customers the tools they need to succeed.

Today, we’re kicking off 2022 with a new look. But while a rebrand can come across as a marketing stunt, for us it signifies an important moment – both in the company’s legacy and in our future direction – that has been more than three decades in the making.

PDI began as a small data operation in 1987, working out of two spare trailers on the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank, CA. We saw then a huge need to help campaigns reach voters, and that need hasn’t changed; it has only become more and more important over the 30+ years we’ve been in business.

Today we’re a leading political data and software platform for campaigns and organizations of all sizes; thousands of progressives trust PDI for the data-driven foundations of their campaigns. We have grown into a team with decades of expertise – in political consulting, engineering, analytics, relational organizing, redistricting, and more – and built our reputation on creating true, lasting partnerships with our clients.

PDI has come a long way since we stored voter data on 9 track reel to reel tapes. Images from Google.

As our clients’ needs have evolved, and the political environment has shifted, our business and products have grown in lock step. Our new brand identity reflects our commitment to creating products that enhance and uplift the democratic process, even as campaigning and organizing tactics change.

What’s new?

First and foremost, our name. We’ve been Political Data, Inc. for more than 30 years, but now we’re simply PDI.

Our foundation always has been – and always will be – political data, but today we do so much more. Our name reflects the reputation we’ve built in the political tech industry, while also giving us room to expand – as we have been with our acquisitions in 2021.

To go along with our new name, we’ve updated our logo, typeface, brand colors, and imagery on our website, and created a simplified and streamlined experience for our California-focused Campaign Center software platform. We’ve made changes that modernize our navigation and user interface, while keeping the functionality you know and love the same. Read more about the UI change here.

We’ve also made it easier to find key resources on our website:

  • The Counts page is now combined with our voter data product page, so you can quickly get an estimate of voters and order the files you need.
  • Help articles for our Campaign Center platform now live on our Help Center, where you can also submit support tickets.

Since we started this mission, our customer relationships and shared expertise have been at the core of what we do. For over 30 years, PDI has been a trusted source of voter data in California.

In the coming months, you’ll see more of our new design system as we launch more new products and feature enhancements. Don’t worry – it won’t impact your ability to get things done. We’re still the same PDI you trust for all your voter data and software needs, and we’ll be by your side in 2022 and beyond.
