Q: I’m running in California. How do I know whether I need the full software platform, or just some data files?

A: It depends on your campaign strategy and budget. If you want a central place to track your supporters, access our regular data updates, and use tools like our mobile canvassing app and online phone bank, then the Campaign Center is right for you. If you have fewer and more specific data needs, you might benefit from a single list or file.

Q: How do I get started?

A: Glad you asked! If you’re running a campaign in California, check out our Voter Data & Counts page first – it has everything you need to understand how many voters are in your district.
If you’re not running in California, check out our national products, OutreachCircle and CallTime.AI. You can sign up for an account, or schedule a demo to learn more.

Q: Do you offer a pricing bundle for PDI and OutreachCircle or CallTime.AI?
A: Yes! Get in touch with our team for discounts on California and national
product bundles.
Q: How do I determine the cost of a data file for my district?

A: Head to our Voter Data & Counts page first. Select your district to get your count, and you’ll see an estimate for each pre-built universe for your district. For complex universes or custom requests, fill out this form and a PDI data expert will get in touch.

Q: Can I just add up the voters or households in the categories I want to get my total count?

A: We don’t recommend this, because people living in the same household may have significant similarities or differences in gender, age, party affiliation, and many other determining factors. We recommend you use our Voter Data & Counts page to get the most accurate count before placing a data order.

Q: What formats do you offer for PDI voter lists and files?
A: All of our files are sent in a .CSV format. Upon request, we can provide files in the following formats: DBF (Dbase), CSV, TSV, TXT, ASCII text, and PDF.
For walk and phone lists, we offer easy print-ready PDFs.
Q: How often do you update or refresh the data?
A: Using the latest data is vital to the success of a campaign, and PDI is trusted by thousands of clients to maintain an updated California voter file. During an election season, our voter files are updated every 30 days or less. During off-seasons, our files are updated every 45-70 days.
Q: What is a high propensity voter?

A: A high propensity voter is a person who, based on past turnout, is more likely to vote in a given election. For example: Someone who never misses a local or state election would have a greater propensity to vote in all elections. A person who votes only in statewide primary and general elections would have a high propensity to vote in statewide elections, but may not vote in local elections. A voter who votes only in general elections would only be considered a high propensity voter in a general election.
The term “high propensity” is subjective and depends on available vote history that reflects future election characteristics. We don’t assume that one or two predefined choices for determining high propensity is right for everyone; instead, we offer a wide range of propensity universes to suit a variety of election types.
If our pre-built universes don’t have what you need, you can create your own universes in our Campaign Center platform.

Q: Why target high propensity voters?

A: By targeting voters more likely to vote in your election, you get the most out of your time and money. In an ideal situation, you’d have enough time and money to reach every single registered voter in your district – but that’s often not feasible. Instead, it helps to limit your universe to the voters who are most likely to vote, and to a number you can afford to reach. Get started by going to our Voter Data & Counts page and finding out how many voters are in your district.
